We learnt to make a traditional Kawdi quilt, the way Brinda learnt it.
This is a sample created by Brinda

Size: 12 inches square. You can use it to make a wall hanging or a cushion cover or whatever you decide.
Fabric: one has to remember that traditionally all quilting across the world was a way of using up scraps and not wasting. The Kawadi was made with old saris, layered together. You could make as many layers as you wanted, but the thinner the sari, the more layers you could have. The borders were used to frame the quilt. For the purpose of our workshop I will use 3 layers.
Materials needed:
1. Fabric: 3 Layers of fabric, each cut into 13 inch squares - a dupatta, or an old sari.
2. Other colourful fabric scraps. Brinda suggested cotton fabric.
You will need a border. You can use the border from the dupatta or sari or whatever. Or you can use a strip of plain coloured fabric. Amongst the fabric scraps, you will need a piece of white to make one of the traditional designs in one corner.
3. Since this is a small piece, keep the border a little narrow.
4. A pair of scissors to cut the cloth as you work.
